Where do you guys and gals buy your clothes from?
I usually buy my clothes from: H&M, Armani Exchange, Zara and I discovered this new store called UNI KLO it's a japanese name brand.

I usually go to Zara and H&M
Submitted by François on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 00:18.I usually go to Zara and H&M too. Or to old clothes shop to find something unique. Also to a very discrete shop in Le Marais in Paris that sells clothes for the few people who know it exists !

Oh you snazzy big city
Submitted by Lothere on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 03:13.Oh you snazzy big city people! I had never even heard of Zara before this day. Victoria is not a great place for shopping, unless you like tweed and cable knit sweaters. The closest H&M Is in Vancouver. The closest J.Crew is in Seattle. There are a couple of cute boutiques with novel things but that is about the best you can do. I mostly just wander up and down Government street between the Levi's store and The Gap in desperate search for pants and jeans long enough for my legs. Then I give up and go to the mall and buy something colorful that is not pants. Also, I have a coat fetish. I wish I could just buy and wear nothing but coats. I love fall and winter!
I love fall to, it is said
Submitted by Devin on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 06:19.I love fall to, it is said that Fall is the fashion season.
Has anyone ever noticed that
Submitted by PenelopetheFox on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 11:05.Has anyone ever noticed that the couple of Zaras in the US are a lot nicer than the ones in the UK? My bf and I were all excited when we moved to Glasgow because we really like the Zara down here in Palm Beach Gardens and then when we got to the Glasgow Zara, the clothes were all really poorly made. I just wish that the US had Top Shop.
My clothes... Where do they mainly come from? I like Nordstrom, J Crew, Anthropologie (oh, the small mint I've spent at Anthropologie), Lucky, Banana Republic and a lot of off-beat places in Pittsburgh. No Nordstrom in Pittsburgh but my grandmother tells me that they want to build one. And if they build it, I will come. And I have to agree with you guys, Fall is my favorite shopping season. The color palette is the best. Not only that but because Fall is sort of mild, I can generally wear Fall clothes in any season.
Devin, what does any of this have to do with Lothere??? lol
Well he did post it in
Submitted by Lothere on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 11:16.Well he did post it in "Other Topics" so it's fair game. Besides, do you read Lothere naked?
Of all the stores you listed there is not a single one in Victoria. See what I mean? Some of them are not in Canada at all, such as J.Crew. I think I need to take a shopping trip to Seattle.
One of the things I like about fall shopping is that it's like fall cooking... after a summer spent wearing the minimal amount possible while still remaining decent, and turning on the stove the least often possible while still occasionally eating something besides salad, it's a great treat to finally start thinking about making stew and wearing sweaters. Mmmm sweaters. I am also liking the dark / opaque tights I'm seeing this year. And the color plum. <3 <3
Boy, do I feel old. I
Submitted by Lisa on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 11:32.Boy, do I feel old. I do most of my shopping at J.C. Penney or Kohl's. I'm over 40 & overweight, so I don't care for the low-rise pants, belly shirts, & skin tight stuff that is so common these days.
Oh boy. Shopping. I love H&M
Submitted by Cearbhaill on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 11:47.Oh boy. Shopping. I love H&M but can have issues with the way the tops fit. I have a lot of clothes from Old Navy, American Eagle, and Aeropostale. I also L. O. V. E. the Long & Lean jeans from The Gap, though I am neither long nor lean. And I also have a large collection of clothes from Calvin Klein, including some samples that never quite made it into the collections, and the other companies owned by Phillips Van-Heusen . My dad works security for Calvin Klein in Manhattan, so he's brought stuff home, or bought us stuff with the fabulous discount. That's where I get a lot of my dress/professional clothes.
That's so funny because I
Submitted by François on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 12:11.That's so funny because I know none of the shop you all quoted before (make me want more to go to the US... BTW, I might be going in California next year !)... I'll post a video on youtube though with the shopping I did during the sales, so I'll post a link here. Except for Zara and H&M (I wear skin jeans...), I sometimes go to Dior, especially for the ties they do. I also went to Springfield when I was in High School (I think it does exist in the US). I also wear Gap, and a little of United Color of Benetton. And recently, I felt in love with the Coton Doux shop which does exclusively shirts that are awesome and very colourful. I am found of Haute Couture, but since I can't by it yet (except Dior sometimes), I wait to become rich and famous before I do so...

I think the next annual
Submitted by Lothere on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 12:18.I think the next annual Lothere convention needs to happen in a big city, and include an extra day for shopping.
I'll second that motion!
Submitted by PenelopetheFox on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 12:28.I'll second that motion!
TOPSHOP! *Moans*I looooove.
Submitted by Cassie on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 12:44.TOPSHOP! *Moans*I looooove. Not that I could afford it.
I get most of my clothes at H&M, Old Navy, occasionally at Gap, but the majority of my clothes come from vintage or used-clothing stores, costume shops, Goodwill, small boutiques with sales, etc. I am a clothing hound. I don't care about stuff - just as long as I have my laptop and a comfy bed - but I would spend all my money on books, clothes, and music. Especially clothes. I am a fashion addict. Shopping is about all I do when I'm in a city - even though I don't buy much of anything, just being near the clothes gets my blood going. The first time I went into Saks, I got tears in my eyes. Seriously.
Francois, if I had the money, I would be all over couture as well. And I love Dior. (Among many many other desigers!)

Oh, God, a Lothere
Submitted by François on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 15:18.Oh, God, a Lothere convention in Paris ! That would be awesome ! What better city could there be ? Or maybe Le Mans, the city where I was born since it's one of the rare cities from Middle-Age entirely conserved in France (and fifty minutes from Paris by train...). If somebody is interested about a shopping movie I just realised (it really last 6 min. and not 10, but YouTube or myself did a mistake), it's here : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=-8o3DxoQv0I (the link might work in a few hours...). As for my Dior ties, here is a movie about my ties (including Dior ones ! youhou !) http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=07wYDzWOZ1Y ! Enjoy !
P.S. : If anyone wanna go shopping in Paris with me, you are all welcome !

My favorite tie is the green
Submitted by Lothere on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 15:48.My favorite tie is the green skinny one at the very end. But really, François, I think you need some more color in your tie collection, even if gray is the new black. Unless you wear those dark ties with bright lavendar shirts. (Which I recommend as a shirt color, if not necessarily as a match to black & silver ties.)
Also, you have an adorable accent. The way that hint of snooty Britishness creeps in, and the way you say "everywhere"... *dies*
And seeing you take your baguette for a walk MADE MY DAY!

Submitted by PenelopetheFox on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 16:56."If you are French, you have to live in Paris because where else would you live?" lmao!
I had a teacher in high school who decided to give us a geography lesson on France. (Ha! I have no idea why I remember this.) But he pointed to the map and said, "La France est divisée en deux parties- Paris et le reste."
I really want a chocolate croissant now.
François, the hat you are
Submitted by Cearbhaill on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 18:50.François, the hat you are wearing in the Toulouse video is to.die.for. So fabulous! You've also made me wish I never let my French skills wither away and that I could pack up and go to France for a vacation. Shopping in Paris was the one thing I didn't have time to do when I was there.

Submitted by Cassie on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 20:22.Not to sound creepy or anything...but Francois, you are seriously so freaking adorable it is not even funny. And I love your ties. And the HAT. Fantastic...and not everyone could pull that off. And...yeah, now I'm pretty much just jealous of your all-around fabulousness. I feel like such a grungy college student now, haha.
*Feels left out because she knows no French* I took Spanish in high school. (And Latin, not that you can speak that.) I have been to Paris, albeit only for a few days, but it was with a massive high school group, I didn't speak the language at all, and I had such awful jet lag I was in a stupor for a lot of it, sadly.

Well, thank you very much
Submitted by François on Tue, 08/19/2008 - 23:32.Well, thank you very much everybody ! I might say I write english better than I speak it, but it's funny to do those vids. And thanks for your cute comments... I didn't even know if my vids could be understandable for english people since I may have such an accent ! And the hat is from Zara ! I found it in Toulouse and it was quite cheap indeed. Lothere, what about "everywhere" ? Do I pronounce it in a special way ? ^^

Well there's the typically
Submitted by Lothere on Wed, 08/20/2008 - 05:05.Well there's the typically Frenchy extra stress you lay on the last syllable, instead of packing it all up onto the "ev-" and mumbling the rest like a good American. And generally your accent tends to the British rather than the American, which is like a bonus. But you still do something with your R's... I would say you manage to pronounce them with your tongue like an Anglophone and your throat like a Francophone at the same time. Brilliant.
You do have one hell of a French accent but everything you say is perfectly understandable to my ears. And everybody dies for French accents you know, except for sexually insecure American men, but that's a good way to weed them out..
I could have said everything everyone else did above but didn't want to sound too creepy. The HAT, the living-in-Paris, etc. Also the way you mispronounced "promise" as soon as you thought too hard about how it was supposed to be pronounced. That is something that makes me wish I was writing a screenplay rather than a story: Sebastien would have done the "prom-ize" thing. Mr. Lothere does that too.
Oh, I'm sure you could kinda
Submitted by François on Wed, 08/20/2008 - 05:58.Oh, I'm sure you could kinda do a phonetic accent in the story like "I promi-ze to you zat ze cavalier iz strrrong eenough !" lol.

Submitted by Devin on Wed, 08/20/2008 - 07:34.The Zaras in Italy and France are much nicer than the Zaras here in N.Y.
I love Dior Homme I bought a vest in the Dior Paris store. I'll wait till I become a famous actor loaded with money to go back there again.
Francois I really like your fashion sense.
Thank you very much Devin !
Submitted by François on Wed, 08/20/2008 - 08:49.Thank you very much Devin ! You can check on my YouTube channel since I don't blog my sims in english. It might be a contact between me and all you Lotherian readers ! Zara is actually quite a chic boutique here in France. And I do love fashion since I was a child (I watched the Haute Couture défilés on TV) so I think I might have some fashion sense indeed. Thanks again !
