Dresses for Kids

Submitted by Van on Sun, 11/16/2008 - 11:16.
Okay, so I have this problem with my kid medieval dresses. They look fine in CAS, but whenever I use one in the game, a chunk of the sleeve is missing and it makes the sim look pretty weird. The only ones I have that don't have this problem are the ones from Mirkwood Sims and one from All About Style. The other All About Style ones, as well as the ones from The Dark Project and A Midsimmer Night's Dream, are all messed.
Fortunately, I don't need any immediately, since my group of sims has just started having babies, but two of my couples had girls, so eventually, I'm going to need some new dresses. Does anyone know where I can find some?

Submitted by Lothere on Sun, 11/16/2008 - 16:26.It sounds like you have a bad mesh... though it's quite strange that it appears normal in CAS and not in the game. Maybe you have inadvertently downloaded 2 mesh files for the same dress, and CAS uses one of them and the game uses the other?
Unfortunately I can't help you fix that problem.
Other than telling you to try redownloading the mesh and overwriting the one you have now.
I don't have any secret stashes of medieval kid's clothing other than what's on my Where can I get? page. I am terrible about writing down where I got things when I download them. And it seems like so much of the kid's clothing is based on the same meshes.
Does anyone else know of some other medieval kids' stuff?

Assuming a mesh problem,
Submitted by Lothere on Sun, 11/16/2008 - 17:26.Assuming a mesh problem, those probably won't work, since they use the Tiggerypum mesh from the Midsimmer set.
Unless... they did work, in which case it would be quite a strange problem indeed.
Is it? Hmmmm... There

There doesn't seem to be many places for kids' medieval gowns. *hops away to do more hunting*

If they don't, I'll just google my problem and see if anyone else has had something like that.
I'm throwing in the towel.

Sorry I couldn't be more help with this. *hangs head*
Okay, so it would appear
Submitted by Van on Sun, 11/16/2008 - 18:35.Okay, so it would appear that I am the first person to ever encounter this problem. Yay me.
I might have to go in and fix these meshes myself. Can you do that with just Sim PE? I don't really want to download MilkShape unless I absolutely have to...
You would have to get a 3d
Submitted by Lothere on Sun, 11/16/2008 - 20:13.You would have to get a 3d editing program like Milkshape to edit the meshes, SimPE doesn't do that. But either way you would have to FIND the culprit mesh on your computer, and if you could do that, then you could just delete it and replace it with a freshly downloaded one.
Do you keep your downloads all in a single folder or do you have them separated into multiple sub-folders? If the latter, then you might have the mesh multiple times under the same name, in which case it wouldn't be TOO hard to find...
What I would do first in your situation is download the child dress *with mesh* from the Midsimmer set (since that mesh seems to be the most commonly used child medieval dress mesh), and open up the ZIP or RAR file and look at the name of the mesh file. Then I would do a "Find File" on your computer to find all files with exactly that name in your downloads folder. And delete them all and replace them with the newly-downloaded mesh.
Sadly, that does assume that whoever made the bad mesh didn't rename the mesh file while he was at it...
I tried that. Unfortunately,

MilkShape sounds so unappealing to someone as artistically-challenged as me. I'll just color in the missing pieces with some simple photo-editing program when I need to. It'll look bad, but I'm thinking I'll just breeze through their kid phases anyway.
