You know you've been reading this story too much when......

..... you wake up one morning, look in the mirror and say ....
"Oh wow, I've got Vash's new hair style."
Seriously, that happened to me just this morning.
*sigh* even when I'm NOT thinking of KOL, I'm STILL thinking of it (if that makes any sense)
Has anybody else had this, or something similar happen to them....
... or am I just being my old silly self (again)?

Sometimes I literally forget
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 09:44.Sometimes I literally forget what month it is or even what season it is, and I think it's the current month in Lothere. That may also be a sign that I spend too much time in front of computers and not enough in front of windows.
I can also tell you without hesitation what the current date is in Lothere but I'm lucky if I know what day of the week it is in the real world, much less the date. Does that count?
Sounds about right for me
Submitted by Sonia on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 11:14.Sounds about right for me too when I get into 'the Zone'. Although I do know when it's the weekend - as that's when I go to work.
But as for dates/times etc. Thank goodness for my trusty old cell phone. I wouldn't be able to live without it... honestly.
I recently had a teacher
Submitted by Van on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 12:55.I recently had a teacher mention the Battle of Hastings and ask if we knew anything about it, and the only thing I could think of was "Hey, that's where Leofric got shot!" To this day I'm relieved I didn't actually put my hand up
Ha, we talked about the
Submitted by Cassie on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 16:10.Ha, we talked about the battle of Hastings a little bit in my art history class, too. I immediately thought of Leof and how he should have died in that one!
Also, we (and by "we" I mean "my professor," naturally) talked about the art of the Norse warlords (though mostly art of several centuries before) and I thought of Eirik out there plundering. He also mentioned a Raedwald, though not the one married to Hetty. (This was around 625, I think?) And anything from that time period now makes me think of Lothere, haha.

I am beginning to have some
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 16:48.I am beginning to have some rather proprietary feelings about Hastings myself. And a definite sense of injustice!
I never cared for the Anglo-Saxons before I started this story, but now my opinion of the Normans is approximately Sigefrith's.
I hope someday I will get a chance to go there. As an untraveled American, the whole historical geography of England seems practically as fictional to me as my own story. It would be stunning, I think, to actually stand on that battlefield -- to realize that it really did happen. Or to go to France and see the Bayeux Tapestry and see the actual contemporary depiction of Harold and William, who actually did live.
And I think at that point I would start questioning where history ends and fiction begins. Perhaps it is in fact at that battlefield, where Leofric did and did not die -- where certain things really did happen and other things might have happened, for all we know...
I would love to see the Lake District and pick out the landmarks of Lothere (on 1/4 scale, sadly) and so on and so forth, but I would imagine that if I ever set foot on Hastings field, I would explode in a collision of parallel universes.
Well, I live about 4 hours
Submitted by Sonia on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 12:16.Well, I live about 4 hours drive from the Lake District. If I can convince dear hubby to take us out for a 'drive out' one bright sunny day, I can try to track down Lothere and get some photos for you.
If you ever visit the 'Lakes' as they're affectionately called here, you're never going to be disappointed. They are magnificent, even on a lousy day.
