"My wife is a brilliant and capable woman, but for every nine-and-ninety brilliant and capable ideas she has, she has one idea so incredibly stupid that I never fail to be dumbfounded, though one would think I would have the habit after fourteen years."

This forum is all about this
Submitted by Lothere on Fri, 12/26/2008 - 06:02.This forum is all about this story over here. I'm the author, so I make all the characters.
I just rolled out of bed and haven't had my coffee yet, so forgive me if this comes off as rude... we're really quite nice and friendly here, but you have to make a bit of an effort yourself to fit in. This is true in practically any smallish group -- online or offline -- so it's worth saying. The polite way to introduce yourself to a group is not to scream "I DONT GET IT!!!" and admit you have no idea what the group is even about. The better thing to do is look around first, read some of the forum posts, read some of the story, and if you're interested in talking about it with other fans, then post to introduce yourself, or just jump into some of the discussion in the comments or the forum.
You haven't done anything bad or anything -- that sort of thing might be perfectly normal on larger Sims sites or whatever -- so I'm not angry or offended or anything. Seriously. In general though, if you want people to take the time to get to know you, it helps if you take a bit of time yourself to get to know them first.
Also, I have to say this for the sake of the approximately 1/4 of my readers who aren't native English-speakers: please don't use chat-speak around here. It annoys some of us (we come here to read literature after all, if I may call my story that), but for a few of us from other countries it literally makes no sense at all.
That said, Welcome and Happy Boxing Day!
