Question about half-elves

Wow...I've just caught up to the latest chapter in this epic tale.
I just had a thought when I was reading about the half-elf children. Sooo...by the pattern you've established, elf maidens who have a child with a scot would have a boy, and would have a girl with a normal human. But...what about half-Scot half-elves like Duncan? If he marries an ordinary girl, then their child would be quarter Scot, quarter elf and half human. What would be the gender of this child? Since the Scottish and elvish bloodlines seem to be very strong, I'm guessing that Duncan would only be able to have girls. If so...he'd have lots of trouble getting an heir. Don't feel obligated to answer this if it'll spoil any future plotlines
Thanks for all your hard work, Lothere!

Ummm.... do we have any half-elves out there of child-bearing age? The only example I know of is Elfleda's grandmother's grandmother, who had a daughter, who had a daughter, who had a daughter, and so on up to Finn. (And Cuthgils.) Now, the theory the elves had to explain that (I can't remember if it was the Shalla who said it or who) was that the elven blood was so diluted there. But of course, Egelric is 1/8 Scot. Or 1/8 descendent of Black Colin, I should say, since we don't have evidence for other sorts of Scotsmen.
So that may have been the real reason.
In any case we know the elves claim that elf + anything will always have the gender of the elven parent.
Otherwise we have had, fathers first:
Elf + human (Lar + Gils's mom) = boy
Elf + human (Imin + Matilda) = ???
Scot + elf (Malcolm + Iylaine) = boy, girl
Scot + elf (Egelric + Sela) = boy
Scot + elf (Egelric + Elfleda) = boy, boy
Scot + elf (Aengus + Lena) = boy
Elf + Scot (Paul + Cat) = ???
The aforementioned Scots, though, we don't know how "pure" they necessarily are. We only know that Cat and Flann and her sisters are "pure" Sidhe but maybe that isn't even the deciding factor.
I guess we will have to wait and see what the next babies will be, and the others if Flann and Osh have any. (Osh is already planning on girls, which is interesting.)
But already, the fact that Malcolm and Iylaine had one boy and one girl is quite something. If Duncan can have a full sister, then it almost stands to reason that he could have both daughters and sons.
Wow...I must've skipped that

. Or maybe I just assumed that they had a boy again.
That certainly clears things up! It would suck to have a noble lineage where the male heir could only have girls.
