Iylaine’s father had been sitting at Gunnilda’s table, but he rose when Iylaine came in. She thought at first that he meant to come embrace her, and she stopped and stiffened.

Iylaine decides she is too old to be Babied
Malcolm had been as polite as he knew how to be, but Gunnilda did not appear to be impressed.
“Didn’t you already say goodbye to her earlier?” she asked.
Ears says what Egelric doesn't like to hear
“Oh! Good! Take this baby,” Egelric said and passed Wulf to the elf before either had the chance to protest.
“Wh—what?” Ears gasped and drew his head as far away from the little boy’s as he could.
Haakon sees something he shouldn’t
Hilda threw open the door to the bedroom.
“What’s this I hear?” she cried. She glanced around, but her gaze quickly focused on the second pair of boots on the floor beside Sigefrith’s feet. “What are you doing?” she demanded. “Packing?”
Eadgith tries to be brave
“Malcolm told me his lady was distressed,” Sigefrith said gently.
Eadgith looked up. He had come in so silently, and parted the curtain without even a rustle.
Sir Sigefrith meets his tenant
Sir Sigefrith stopped short in the door of his study. Neither his steward nor his ears had deceived him: there was a young lady awaiting him. Alone.
She scrambled out of the bench and curtseyed awkwardly.
Sigefrith invites Aengus and Murchad on a trip
“Who’s first?” Sigefrith laughed as he rose from the bench where he sat with Maire. “I could take you both, but it would be more amusing for the fair lady if I met you separately.”
“I shall only stand a chance if Murchad softens you up first,” Aengus said and pushed the young man before him.
Lady Ragnhild greets her husband
“Haakon! Hilda! Who’s first?” Sir Sigefrith beamed and held his arms wide. “All right,” he laughed as Eirik’s dog flung himself at him. “Kottr’s first!”
Hilda gaped at him in surprise, but Haakon scrambled to his feet and greeted his father in the same manner as the dog.
Leila is surprised
Leila awoke with a pounding heart. Her body already knew he was in the room.
“Leofric?”
“Even I,” he muttered.
