Lasrua's trousseau.

Mash-up of Sherahbim’s Maiden Gown and Heart of the Forest dress with higher neckline: 7 recolors. (Click picture for high-res version.)

The title of this post is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I did just age Lasrua up to adult, and I needed some clothes for her. I wanted something like the LOTR-inspired gown she is wearing as a teen in chapters like “Malcolm asks and is answered”:

Lasrua's teen dress.

I have several(!) versions of this for adults, but I wasn’t happy with any of them. So I decided to make something similar of my own.

I wanted something like the brown bodice of that dress, and I remembered the lovely Heart of the Forest dress has something vaguely like it. (With laces in the front instead of the back.)

For the silky white underdress I remembered the white “Maiden” gown from Sherahbim’s Medieval and Renaissance Gowns set.

Since Sherahbim kindly allows reuse of her textures, I combined the two to make a new elf-maiden-style outfit. I also added a higher neckline because—authentic medieval costumes though these are not—I am trying to phase out the low-neckline outfits from my collection.

The feature outfit of this set consists of a “jacket” cropped from the Forest gown, applied over the white texture from the Maiden gown:

Lasrua's gown.

The “white” in this set has actually become an unbleached linen color.

I also included a version of the same outfit with a lace shawl wrapped around her hips, because in an upcoming chapter I needed her to sit on the grass, and elfy superpowers notwithstanding, I didn’t want her to get grass-stains:

Lasrua's gown with shawl.

I love the idea of outfits that come in layers—very useful for storytelling. So I also made her a version of the Maiden gown without the jacket at all, but using the same color cloth, and the same high neckline. Here is Wynflaed showing off the new neckline, front and back:

(That hairstyle is perfect for Wynsome, don’t you think? I wish I had a nice bun with that hairline in the front.)

The dress without the jacket is using the original mesh from the Maiden dress (by LordDragonstone). The main difference is in the sleeves. In the version with jacket, it looks like Rua has the cuff gathered at the wrist or something:

Sometimes you have to use your imagination a little.

Here Wynn and Rua are showing off the details of the back:

And a full view with grass-stain-repellant shawl:

Finally, I did a few recolors of the jacketless Maiden gown. Two consist of different-colored girdles to wear with the cream-colored gown, and two are different and somewhat random recolors that I whipped up and decided “why not?”

The set.

From left to right:

  • Sophie is wearing “Avocado”
  • Wynflaed is wearing “Cream”
  • Ana is wearing “Teal”
  • Freya is wearing “Rua Gown”
  • Rua is wearing “Rua Gown w/shawl”
  • Flann is wearing “Cinnamon” (which has a red girdle)
  • Cat is wearing “Cream/Red”

Cat and Freya are demonstrating that both meshes feature pregnant morphs. Nothing like a wide red girdle to show off your big belly, Cat.

For some ill-considered reason (namely that I turn into a semi-literate Neanderthal when I’ve been craning over Photoshop and Bodyshop for the last three hours) I named the Maiden recolors “Meryt_AF_Maiden_Collar_*.package” and the jacketed gowns “Meryt_AF_RuaGown*.package”.

Terms and Conditions: You can do whatever you want with these except upload them to paysites or act like you made the whole thing. It’s nice to credit me (as well as Sherahbim, iamliz13, and LordDragonstone) if you make something with them, but I understand if you don’t remember where you find things.

Finally, for fun, here’s an action shot of the dress from an upcoming chapter. It doesn’t seem to impress Aengus’s buxom cook. (She gets to keep the low-cut bodices for now. >8) )
