My lunch breaks of the last couple days have been spent closing off the remaining chapters “open” for character tagging, and I just finished the last one! *trumpets* *confetti*

First off, let me apologize for the crazy colors and formatting over here… for security reasons I just moved the Verso blog out of Wordpress and into the main part of the site. I haven’t finished the stylesheets yet.
But I’m actually posting to announce a few new site features. (A working in Verso comments is definitely a site feature though!)
I’ve added a new interface for assigning characters to their chapters. ermine and symphony are already going to town on it!

Yes, it is exactly what it looks like: a Prologue written over 3 years after the 1st chapter.
No, this is not an April Fool’s Day joke, though it almost was.

Nobody who responded to the who can see my stuff poll seemed bothered by other registered users looking at their profiles, so I have gone and added a link to view users’ bookmarks on the User List. Who knew that Devin liked so many chapters featuring Maud, Sela, and Aia???

I just updated the site with some new features.
Now, if you have JavaScript enabled, the “Preview Comment” button will load the preview below the comment form, rather than taking you to a new page. This is not only quicker to load, it also allows you to easily refer to the chapter and other comments above while you’re hacking away on your new comment.

I just uploaded a crapload of mostly invisible code updates to the Web server. (Hopefully not breaking anything.)
I don’t remember what all I fixed over the last weeks, as usual, blah blah blah, but there is a new and strangely addictive feature in the right-hand sidebar now: “Random Chapter.” You can get trapped in an endless maze of Lothere now, or at least while away a boring afternoon in Christian Sexuality class.

Me again. I just enabled editing & deleting comments for users who aren’t logged in, for the same limited-time period as regular users. (30 minutes after first posting it, I think.).
Please please tell me if you see “Edit” and “Delete” links for comments you didn’t actually write. And do not be evil and click them!

Thanks to Alex’s valiant efforts to use a STRIKE tag*, I noticed that my comment HTML filter didn’t even allow it, in spite of the tag’s great comedic potential. I also noticed that I have been quite coy with my filter in the first place, since I never even told you what tags are allowed.

A couple of small things before I forget:
First, I added a link to the smileys available for chapter comments, just above the chapter comment form. These are for chapter comments only, for now. The chat, forum, and Verso are all drawing from other pools.
Second, I added a random quote to the bottom of each page. It was something of a whim, and I am not sure whether that was the best idea, since I suppose there could be spoilers in there for people who are reading through their first time. What do you think? Or just put it only the bio side of things and leave it off the story side? I’m still pondering. Eventually I may add the ability for users to turn on/off that sort of thing individually, but that won’t be till later.

I just updated the site this morning with a bunch of changes I’ve been working on for the past weeks. Nearly all of it is behind-the-scenes stuff that won’t make any difference to you – in my business, the rule is: if the customer can’t see it, you didn’t do it – so I wouldn’t ordinarily tell you except to warn you that there may be exciting new bugs. I tested the usual stuff – reading & writing chapters and making comments – but you never know.
Read on to find out what you will notice…
